HWA are still on fire!
We are pleased to announce that our long term relationship with Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) has been cemented via an extension to our term contract until 2013.
HWA have now completed the civil & structural design of 5 new fire stations for DFRS since 2007. Chaddesden, Ilkeston and Chesterfield stations have been operating successfully for some time and last month saw the official opening of the Buxton station. At the time of writing, the fifth and newest station at Ascot Drive in the centre of Derby is also nearing completion and may well be operational by the time you read this.
The £3.5m Buxton station pictured here is a community facility that is also shared with the Derbyshire Cave and Mountain Rescue teams. It features a 6 storey tower and a smoke house for training purposes and also contains sustainable features such as solar PV panels and 40,000 litres of underground water storage.
DFRS are a very forward thinking authority and we look forward to working in partnership with them in the coming years.
