We were appointed to design this new-build primary school following an online procurement process by North Lincolnshire Council.
The Council were keen to make the new school an exciting and stimulating place for students to come and learn which resulted in a design incorporating a mixture of indoor and adjacent outdoor teaching spaces on two storeys, with a flexible “heart of the school” located in a central glazed atrium.
They were also determined that the school should have excellent environmental credentials and chose to incorporate PV solar panels, ground source heating and various other energy efficient systems.
allowed the installation of the extensive renewable technology to be optimised.
Throughout the design process we were proactive in suggesting alternative approaches to the client in the interests of either economy or improvement of the scheme, or both.
Following the tender process, the contract was awarded to Henry Boot Construction. Work on site completed on time and on budget and the new school opened at the start of the academic year in September 2012.
We have worked closely with the rest of the design team to enable the client’s brief to be fulfilled. Careful detailing of exposed external steelwork provided the desired architectural appearance, and a two storey plant room including an underground pipework chamber
